I’ve noticed since having an iPhone 16 and iOS 18 that when I’ve got my AirPods Pro in Siri doesn’t read out notifications. For example with WhatsApp it used to read the message out, but now it just says “<name> sent a WhatsApp message”

I have announce notifications turned on.

Any suggestions

There are two toggles to enable.

1. Announce Notifications
2. Headphones

Are both enabled?

I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max running iOS 18.2 beta 2 and Siri is indeed tells me who the message is from and it reads the actual message.

Yep all enabled to make it work as far as I can tell

I’ve also just realised it’s not even announcing name, just that there’s a WhatsApp notification

I’ve just realised it works with normal messages, it’s just WhatsApp that’s a problem

Edit: Literally just worked it out, in an attempt at more security I’d turned on “Require Face ID” for WhatsApp, and that’s why
