After installing the upgrade to 10.15.6, Siri is not working on my iMac 2020, tried everything I can do still no help to recover it. The setting flashes and quits when I set Hey Siri. Siri just shows a blank panel when I hit the Siri on the top right. by the way, is it relevant that my Mac plays the startup chime instead of Apple saying the T2 Mac won't play the startup chime?

What steps have you tried?
1, Disable Siri and re-start from System Preferences;
2, Re-open Siri in iCloud;
3, Check sound setting of Mac;
4, Allow Siri and dictation at Scree time setting;
5, Tried safe mode;
6, Recover and reinstall MacOS;
and other actions from google.
the following errors were captured by system console when Siri flashed out.

Try creating a clean new user account, restart the computer and login to the new user account. Does the issue happen in the new user account.

Did you try installing the Big Sur beta (and failed)?

Yes, I did it and failed, then restored Catalina. is it the root cause?
That would be why. You now have the beep as you've noticed. And no Hey Siri. Lots of other weirdness happened to me as well. iCloud didn't come right for a few days as I was left with no keychain sync. You could try and reset the NVRAM, but I'm just holding out for the next beta that supports the 2020s.

Same thing happened to me. I tried to install Big Sur beta 3 times. Then, I see on the beta sign-up page...mixed in with everything else...that it does not work with the 2020 iMac. They could have put that in bold letters. I didn't bother reading all of it, because I am familiar with beta installs.
I've tried everything that I can think of. Even reset the SMC and NVRAM...a few times.
Also just holding out for an update.

Okay. Big Sur beta installed. Siri is working. Still have the startup chime. Oh, well. I actually like it, but, I guess it's not supposed to be there. Maybe it is supposed to work now. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

From what I understand there is an option in System Preferences->Sound in Big Sur to turn the starting chime off/on.

After failing to install beta, I updated it from Catalina to big sur due to the problem of Siri operation,
but it is not working yet.

Is update the only solution to this problem?
