I was running watchOS 5.0 on my AW4, and it worked like a charm. However, ever since I updated to 5.0.1, Siri has become totally non-functional, may that be the "Listen for Hey Siri," "Raise to Speak," or even just long pressing the crown. It directly goes to "Hold on..." and stays there and does nothing. I have rebooted my watch and iPhone multiple times, factory reset the watch and set it up as a new device, but none of that seems to have worked. Any suggestions?

I have a 44mm, but it's the GPS only version. There doesn't seem to be any connectivity issues as it does connect to my phone and the wifi. I can't figure out where the problem lies.

I reset it twice, first time as new, second time from a backup, but neither approach fixed the problem. I made sure both Hey Siri and Raise to Talk functions were switched ON. Siri is still non-functional. I think it has to do with the update itself cause it was working perfectly fine on watchOS 5.0

5.1 or 5.0.1?
Updated to 5.01 the other day overnight (watch came with 5.0 as standard) and siri works fine (invoking by long-pressing crown, since I turned off all the listen stuff.) Sorry to hear you're having problems. I hope it gets straightened out for you. Maybe call apple and have them do a remote diagnostic on your watch, if they can?

Yes i called Apple and they did the remote diagnostic test. They claim it’s not a hardware issue, which makes sense as the feature worked well when my watch was on 5.0. They, as usual, asked me to come in and get the device replaced. I think i’ll hold off on doing so till the next update. Maybe the issue will mysteriously disappear with a future update, just like it mysteriously appeared with this one. Thank you all for your feedback.

I finally found a fix for it!!! I unpaired the device, factory reset it by erasing all the data and then removed it from my list of devices on iCloud. The iCloud step seemed to be the crucial step. I then re-paired it and set it up again as a new device and now the issue seems to be fixed. Both hey siri and raise to speak work now.
