My install of beta 1 has several issues. The most obvious is the left swipe from the home screen. All I see is the search bar and nothing else. I've tried turning off spotlight search and rebooting. No change.

Secondly Siri itself only works using "hey siri". Trying to dictate text messages or holding down the home button summons Siri but it won't pick up what I'm saying. But Hey Siri works fine

Another issue is screen capture doesn't work as reliably as in 8.4

I'm using the iPhone 6

Hang in there and it should get better. The items you list are on most people's list and will be addressed as the beta is updated.

I have had news in my predictive Siri screen from the beginning but it went away 3 days ago. No idea but guessing it will return sometime.

Thanks. I haven't seen anyone report this in the magazine reviews or here but I haven't gone through enough posts I guess.

Why are some people on b3? Are they getting developer access? I haven't seen tweets or articles about a b3 yet

Try making sure that the Spotlight Suggestions setting is enabled in Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services (might need to reboot after that).

For the other issues you might need to reset all settings to see if that might help (as it often does).

Thanks C DM. This is similar to the suggestion I read in the MacRumors article that said you needed to turn off the spotlight search in Siri and reboot and that didn't work. Your suggestion goes deeper than that into the privacy settings but for me that didn't work either even after two cold starts.

All I see is the search bar. Thanks however- great suggestion. I was sure it would work.

Yeah the original suggestion you mentioned didn't work for me either. Wasn't until I tried enabling that particular location services setting and restarting and doing a couple of searches that it started working after days of nothing showing up there.

Here is how I fixed the issue: Swipe left to the spotlight search screen. Press the microphone button in the search field and say something. Very likely no text will appear in the search box once you do it. However, moving back to iMessage or Mail after that and doing dictations should now work. Odd I know but worked for me.

I had the news section at the bottom disappear on me after one hour of installing the PB when it came out. Someone told me to just reboot and it brought back the news for me and hasn't disappeared since.

OP (and others), I'd experienced lack-or-response by Siri on DP Beta 3 - my fix that seems to have worked is to just disable it in the Settings app, wait about 10 seconds, then re-enable it. This simple "fix" worked on an LTE iPad 3 and an iPhone 6, both with clean installs - no problems since.

I setup News on my iPad and turned on News in iCloud settings on my iPhone and iPad. I expected my selections I spent time making would sync to my phone but they didn't....until a week later. Since the update of my selections on my iPhone I have not seen news on my iPad or iPhone in predictive Siri since. It's fine but strange the timing. News crashes on my iPad a lot too but that's for another thread.

I have no clue about the news app. (Not available in Canada.) But I was talking about the news below contacts/app/location suggestions in the proactive search page. I assumed you meant that news.

If you do mean the news in the proactive screen, try doing a reboot (hold power + home buttons until you see the white Apple logo.) I had news for about one hour after the initial iOS beta install and it disappeared. Rebooting brought it back.

I did. The News app built into iOS feeds that service from what I can tell and since doing the setup of the app it disappeared from proactive. Maybe if I had not completed the setup I would still see it. I don't know. Ha. We're taking the same though.

Weird though. Because I don't have access to the news app. (Only shows up if you change language/location to US.) and I still have news in the proactive page. So to me the two (app and proactive page) don't look to be tied together.

Appreciate the feedback.

Reminds me about some feedback I wanted to send Apple and forgot till now.

There's no way to set what news I see in the proactive page. (It gives me Canadian news which is right, but it's all kinda just generic Canadian news and mostly nothing's I care about and it's not more local to my Province/City (which in the keynote they said would be local to your location.))
