Is there anyway to use the Siri remote to control an iPad? I hook my iPad up to a projector for outside movies and would be more convenient with the remote for play/pause etc

No you won’t be able to get it to work. The iPad doesn’t have an infrared port.

I thought it could pair over Bluetooth (or some other wireless protocol)? Maybe I was wrong but could’ve swore I read about it

Unfortunately, no. I wanted to use it as iPad Bluetooth remote to since the mini trackpad should be pretty handy.

You can probably find a few $20 bluetooth remote presenters on Amazon that can be used with the iPad.
