Every time I try to turn on Siri for use in my car, it asks me to set it up. When I'm done, I turn it off. But whenever I turn it in, it asks me again.

Why doesn't iOS 9 save the set up instead of asking me over again when I use Siri for hands free use? It's annoying.

I think it only drains when you are using it. My Siri is always on, but not active unless I engage it. Battery life is good. Other things will drain your battery faster

It does this because it's not designed to be turned off unless you really intend to never use it. Leaving it on has zero effect on your battery life.

I wish people would stop turning off features to "save" battery. I have every single feature in iOS 9 turned on and still get 10-13 hours of use before I have to charge the phone. Unless you live on a deserted island or are camping with no power source in sight there is no need to turn off features.

OP, if your iphone is the 6S The Siri "listening" feature has a dedicated processor to it so it will NOT drain battery as it listens.

I actually have a 6 Plus from last year.

So, this dedicated processor doesn't use energy at all? I don't think so... Apart from that, I agree that turning things off doesn't help much.

-smh- Sir, Please. The iPhone 6S and 6S+ has a dedicated chip for listening and processing "Hey Siri" without being plugged in. Yes this electronic chip does require power but its battery drain is minimal. I have a 6S and the battery lasts as long as you would expect by usage.

Anyways, Gordon1234 has given you the best answer you can get:

Hey Siri doesn't drain your iPhone 6 battery because it only works when its plugged in.

Stop turning Siri off unless you intend to never use Siri

Right. That's the way I do it when on the road. It helps with navigating and checking messages by voice.

I guess I don't follow. On the Road if you need to use "Hey Siri" it means your phone is plugged in. Why would it disable Siri otherwise. It's not like she's actively listening when your phone isnt plugged in.

Did I say that? It consumes less energy than if the main cpu was listening all the time.

Regardless the iPhone's battery is tested by Apple with everything turned on and I don't understand people's infatuation with turning things off all the time.

Not trying to put words in mouths, but I think his point is that since you have a 6+, "Hey Siri" uses zero power unless you're plugged in, and if you're plugged in you're likely using it. So it doesn't help you at all to turn the feature off.

Couldn't agree more.

People that obsessively turn off everything that makes the phone "smart" amuses me.

To be fair, even if a lot of things are disabled there's still plenty inherently built-in and still there that makes the phone a smartphone nonetheless. Often enough people don't use most of those things they disable, or don't care about them. That said, there's certainly also the other side of it that is more related to what you mention where a few or even some will actually disable things that they do use or want to use and end up complicating things unnecessarily or making them worse for themselves trying to save something that isn't as worthwhile as far as what it costs them (this thread being more of that type of thing).
