Some of you will remember I posted last week about a redesign I had done and many of you provided feedback on the navigation aspect of the site i.e. how ***** it was.

I have since taken onboard all that was said and have begun to redesign the layout and navigation side of things.

I am struggling to come up with a simple way to navigate through the various portfolio sections without making it overly complicated. I want something very simple so people can quickly view the entire portfolio without getting lost.

The attached pic is the portfolio section of my site. Once you click the Portfolio button you get to this page and the green portfolio sections appear under the main 'white' links. The section you are in is highlighted by a dot. To navigate the various bits of work in that section the 4 dots to the left are buttons. Each represents a different piece of work.

This approach works but is a bit lame and I cant think what other way I can do it without a total site overhaul.

Any info is greatly appreciated. Remember keep it simple. Thanks :)

it's simple, it works, if you ask me.

it's very clear what's going on and how to navigate it (unlike one or two other portfolio sites i've seen).

maybe it should be scripted so that the user can click on the one they want, or it can scroll through without interaction... but not too fast..

Its done in iWeb so no scripting. Also I dont have the first clue about scripting or HTML. :p

Ive been on the fone for the past 30 minutes thats why I forgot about and then was ages posting the image. :D

You now have my full attention.

Yes it works but its crap. Thats why im posting here. I think the 4 dots are a bit ambiguous. What do you think? They could be interpreted as part of the portfolio piece.

that's why i mentioned scripting. maybe if the dots had 1,2,3,4 in them it could work

Ok. What about the green text on the right. I dont really like it, how else could i implement that?

Right now i am looking at using the green bar at the bottom with text to denote different sections.

Ok I think I got it (for now)

Green text is larger so doesnt look alienated. You then scroll through each section without choosing which individual piece to view; just left and right arrows. Info at bottom left states which section and name of piece.

That will do for now, unless someone picks it apart. If you do I will hunt you down and eat your face. :p
