Looking for reviews of my site redesign. Did a pretty big overhaul and jumped on the 2.0 bandwagon. Let me know what you think.

Old:

New:

I actually like the older one better. The newer just looks a little off to me... At first glance, almost the kind of thing you see when you go to one of those parked "for sale" domains with the search and such...

With the fonts, it looks a little sloppy too. I don't know how to describe it. They just need to be a bit less... Default-ish... Not sure.

Also, the margins on the lower right box don't work so great for me, running Safari. On "Ed Wood meets Jean Cocteau in this B-Movie homage to 1950's b&w outer-space movie. Vixens, robots, monsters, rockets and quantum mechanics.", when it wraps, it goes right on the border of the box.

It's not that bad, pretty neat site, just needs fine-tuning.

If you want to know which is better new or old it is old hands down. New looks like cheese hit the fan.

I actually prefer the new one - although it's probably because

a) no obnoxious background

b) no google ads (or at least I don't notice any)

c) cleaner logo

However, you need some visual aids on the new front page (pictures)

I like more the old design. The new one looks like any other web 2.0 site.

I also associate movies with red, not blue.

My vote is for the old one. Maybe a little cleanup and make the link selections stand out more. The new one gives me the impression that it's a new site without much history.

I prefer the look of the new one, I think, but the old one looks much better than the new one when you scale the text (cmd-equals and cmd-minus). A big part of the "web 2.0" movement is increasing accessibility, but if scaling the text makes some of it unreadable, you're cutting out a lot of people with poor eyesight.

And... table layout? C'mon...

I like the first one better. The second one doesn't bring any excitement at all. The second one looks too unfriendly to me, but I am not sure if it's the layout or maybe just the overall look.

Ouch that hurts. I spent decent money on the new design. I never would have thought the old site would win...doesn't the old site look very 1997 to you guys?

Did you guys look at the sub pages or just the home page?

Any tips for how I can make the new one better--with my limited skills? I have to keep the tables I have no time or ability to change that. Any simple things like fonts, etc.

How can I make the text scale better (cmd-equals)?

Well the old site did look a touch unprofessional but the new site looks a bit dull. It looks fine but i think that it could do with a touch of colour just to liven it up a bit.
