More personal opinion, but the background reminds me of the old netscape days. I'm not exactly sure what WarezVB but declaring that your site is associated with it is pretty bold.

Well I am not really associated with them it is just the guy who owns it is my friend and he wants an ad for his site.

well first off change the background to something a little more professional,
also the page doesnt validate.
although the background will do WONDERS for the design

The reason that background isn't professional is because it is not crisp (looks to have been up-scaled) and has a bunch of jpg compression noise. A crisp, vectorized version of the same subject could possibly work, but you'd have to have an eye for how to treat it tastefully.

Ok I went and made it more "crisp"

RE: You can't "control" how it validates

Explain, please? I checked the source and apparently it was created with Word Press. According to their home page:

WordPress is a state-of-the-art publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability. WordPress is both free and priceless at the same time.

Either their product doesn't produce code following MODERN standards or it's a developer issue misconfiguring or using Word Press improperly. You're doctype is XHTML 1.0 transitional, but I see a whopping 58 errors during validation which is unbelievable. I don't use Word Press, please note. Maybe plugins did this, but they should be compliant too.

But I noticed I lot of rendering issues on my Firefox browser and usually these are resolved when the code is compliant. Thus, look into the following, please:

* too much gray at the top of the masthead, the top is critical real estate on any browser page, always try your best to move things upward
* the pipe char's between the links at top seem too high
* the navy blue font stuff is too small
* under the chat section on the right there are 3 boxes i can't read and horizontal scroll bars (all too small or improperly sized)
* the default frame for the Flash video is blurry (too low res)
* make better use of the white space as one scrolls down to the content positioned there
* I have no issues with the circuit board static background, but the content area should be wider by at least 100pixels each side. Adjust according to a 1024x768 layout OR consider a liquid layout.

I will compliment on a nice layout and choice of colors, overall. The gray headers used for each section are nice and slim, and decent contrast. The content seems interesting and the shadow effects are well done.

Just work on spacing elements on the right side in chat, a few cosmetic changes, and do your best to validate the site. I suggest strongly viewing it through FF and Opera and MSIE 6/7 or use a site like this one to view the page through many browsers online without actually installing them.

Thanks I will try and make it as validated as possible and make it look good in other browsers. it already looked good in firefox, safari, opera, and netscape I have been trying internet explore but the way it is built puts a lot of work on the site developer...

Wordpress by itself will produce valid html. Sketchy themes can quickly ruin that though.

I've been working with wordpress a bit myself and was impressed by how it worked "out of the box," but anything beyond that was horrendous. Performance quickly became an issue and it quickly earned the tag of "bloatware" in my eyes. I know there are caching plugins available, but it obviously wasn't very effective. I ended up writing my own simple blogging backend with some bells and whistles. Of course a custom solution will always be faster, but mine smoked wordpress... I do have a much better understanding of why wordpress blogs go down under the strain of the digg effect / slashdot / reddit. Down with wordpress!

I do plan to make my own software later but the thing is now that I don't have much time but when I get enough time (When I am out of school) I will start working on my own solution with the forums built in and all.

I am thinking about adding to my site a Open source/freeware/shareware place, where if you are giving out freeware/open source you could use my server for hosting and all, but if your not. You will just host it on your server and have a page for it. Now for open source I plan on having svn.
