Hello I am working on a new site for programmers. What do you think about the site so far?

Well I am not really associated with them it is just the guy who owns it is my friend and he wants an ad for his site.More personal opinion, but the background reminds me of the old netscape days. I'm not exactly sure what WarezVB but declaring that your site is associated with it is pretty bold.

What type of a background do you have in mind for professional?well first off change the background to something a little more professional
if you mean at http://validator.w3.org/ most of the errors I saw I can't control.also the page doesnt validate.
Ok I went and made it more "crisp"The reason that background isn't professional is because it is not crisp (looks to have been up-scaled) and has a bunch of jpg compression noise. A crisp, vectorized version of the same subject could possibly work, but you'd have to have an eye for how to treat it tastefully.
WordPress is a state-of-the-art publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability. WordPress is both free and priceless at the same time.
Thanks I will try and make it as validated as possible and make it look good in other browsers. it already looked good in firefox, safari, opera, and netscape I have been trying internet explore but the way it is built puts a lot of work on the site developer...I will compliment on a nice layout and choice of colors, overall. The gray headers used for each section are nice and slim, and decent contrast. The content seems interesting and the shadow effects are well done.
Just work on spacing elements on the right side in chat, a few cosmetic changes, and do your best to validate the site. I suggest strongly viewing it through FF and Opera and MSIE 6/7 or use a site like this one to view the page through many browsers online without actually installing them.

I do plan to make my own software later but the thing is now that I don't have much time but when I get enough time (When I am out of school) I will start working on my own solution with the forums built in and all.Wordpress by itself will produce valid html. Sketchy themes can quickly ruin that though.
I've been working with wordpress a bit myself and was impressed by how it worked "out of the box," but anything beyond that was horrendous. Performance quickly became an issue and it quickly earned the tag of "bloatware" in my eyes. I know there are caching plugins available, but it obviously wasn't very effective. I ended up writing my own simple blogging backend with some bells and whistles. Of course a custom solution will always be faster, but mine smoked wordpress... I do have a much better understanding of why wordpress blogs go down under the strain of the digg effect / slashdot / reddit. Down with wordpress!
