Didn't see this posted here so I took some photos comparing the Air vs 12.9 iPad Pro with Smart Keyboard, and also the size difference between the 12" MacBook and Air.
The Air is a lot wider than the iPad but the iPad is deeper, mostly due to the hinge on the Magic keyboard.
The Air is slightly thicker by a hair. In practice the Air feels thinner because it's tapered all the way around.
Weight is a toss up subjectively. The iPad Keyboard combo is about 0.1 lbs heavier than the Air. The Air feels denser though.
The 12" MacBook is so much smaller than the Air.
The 12" MacBook is much thinner than the Air. The weight difference is huge. 0.8 lbs doesn't read like much but in practice it is significant. You can easily lift the 12" by the corner with only your index finger and thumb.
Other notes... I got the Gold version. It is not what I'd call gold. I owned a 2015 gold MacBook (the photos are of a 2016 Silver MacBook), and it looked gold. The Air looks more like a pale copper with a tinge of pink depending on lighting. I'd recommend seeing it in person before buying. The Apple store had a Gold 16gb 1tb for store pickup so I bought it sight unseen.
Battery... I installed the 11.1 beta, unplugged and have been mostly doing light computing. Some writing, a little photo cropping for this post, browsing the App Store, light web surfing, installing some apps. I'm at 85% after 4.5 hours. Activity monitor says I still have 19.5 hours remaining!!
Memory... Running a bunch of Apple apps (notes, messages, reminders, calendar, Music, Numbers, Safari, Mail, etc) I've seen the memory usage as high as 11gb, so definitely the 16gb will make a difference if you leave a lot of apps running.
