What are the sizes of yalls movie libraries? Mine's surpassing 1TB and growing.

Congrats man. I just started creating mine when :apple:TV came out so its only about 40gigs. But i dont rip my own movies alot so their size and quality vary greatly. I have about 40 movies. When I rip my own they are usually about 1.5G a piece, but when I download them from uh "various places" They are almost always in .avi so i have to convert them which brings them down to like 600mb per movie. Eventually, I will have a mighty movie collection its just going to take some time...and a bigger :apple:TV to hold them :)

20GB with various uncompressed movies. I'm procuring them like a bat out of hell though so I hope to have about 50 titles by June 1st when my ISP starts to grease me up for their rectal examination.

Over 600GB currently... I encode to iPod High Quality 2-Pass with Handbrake.

Disclaimer: I own all the movies in my library

i'm at about 1.5tb's and almost exactly 700 movies. all ripped by me on a macbook pro at 2-3 hours a piece. ugghhh. took me 6-7 months. have about 80% fully tagged. it was a pain, but now it's worth it!

"It's not the meat, it's the motion."

Owning "How High" and "The Waterboy" is a lot like picking up leftover food at McDonald's unbussed tables. Sure, there's a lot of food, but...

ok ok, ill be a loser and post ...

40GB...:(

hey im a busy guy and workin on getting a external!

i know there is someone out there like me...

size doesnt matter!!!!:D

Me and 5 friends are on a blockbuster movie pass and netflix rotation. Adding probably 10 movies a week, then we just get together and sync our collecitons.

And yes, we own all the movies in our collection. :D

How is adding movies from Blockbuster and Netflix "owning" the movies:rolleyes:?

Don't worry, you aren't alone...

As for me, I have only about 30gbs of moves, i am going to buy an external hard drive in the next couple months...

where are you guys storing all this movie data, and how can I add that capacity to my MBP with 20 gigs of space available?

External HDD or NAS (Network Attached Storage)

I have a 1TB Lacie HDD and I also have a WD NAS so I can use that as a median for transferring files to and from my MAC to PC as the Lacie HDD is formatted in NTFS to allow larger files.

was a typo. I mean to say pwn.

And yeah, you totally gotta get a external 1TB if you're going to start a serious collection.

You don't, it's connected to my computer that I use to sync to my ATV.

I'm sure there are ways to do it, but they involve hacking your ATV.

OK...so I assume you're using a desktop. You rip or download the content you want into itunes and then just expand your capacity for data with the HD, and when you want to watch something you just stream in from your ATV..right?

I think syncing and streaming are 2 different things.

Correct, my "desktop" is actually a laptop, and I use my MacBook Pro for mobility things and normal use.

And I have a 160gb AppleTV, so I sync a lot of my content. But a lot of the content I just stream through the PC from the 1TB HDD to the AppleTV.

I have about 2.2 TB of storage I would guess I have about half filled with TV Shows and movies so far.
