Well i was looking through a Mac Creative mag and i came upon an article about desktops and skins. I went to some of the websites listen and realized that there are some awesome skins available. Now my question is, will a skin bog down the performance of my mac. Because i remember on my Windows skin programs used to gum the system up. Is this true or not? I really like the skins, but i want to do whats best for the mac.

Thanks alot

Others with more experience than I will no doubt chime in with various experiences, but so far as I know skinning doesn't generally affect performance much, as the system resources are being changed, not added to. It does, however, have the potential to break things after an OS upgrade. This won't be an issue if you always wait until your skinning app has been updated to update, but it may hold you back.

Basically, if it's solely your Mac's health you're concerned about, it's definitely safer not to skin, but it's not a guaranteed source of problems if you really want to.
