There is a popup saying that skype is unsupported on a modified OS. Calls still work probably because the 1.0.2 is buggy and they're more than likely will be an update to fix this. It is clear what skype's intentions were on this update. Apple already killed 3g use in the new beta.

This is a joke. I can't stand these damn telcos and I cannot believe that skype is complicit in this. Apple also needs to take blame for this. I am sick of this garbage. It is our device. It is not their's. Skype, Apple, & AT&T can kiss my butt. Jerks. I hope they all get sued for this. 9to5mac has the story.

As long as it still works over 3G, I wouldn't bother to get so upset about it. I agree that it's wrong of them to try and limit us to wifi use only but there's not much we can do about it. For now just enjoy using it over 3G and be very careful not to update to future versions without verifying that everything still works first. And be sure to keep a copy of the old Skype ipa files in a safe place - you can always roll back to the original version or the current version (both of which work over 3G) if necessary.

Skype completely has the right to create their program anyway they wish. If they want to block it from Jailbroken phones, it's their right, like it or not, especially when they give it to you for FREE. If you don't like it, try other alternatives until you find one you're happy with, or try a different phone and carrier all together.

Apple also needs to take blame for this.

Surely not? Jailbreaking is a hack after all. You can't expect Apple, or Skype for that matter to support hacks.
If the apps you like happen to work on hacked hardware, great! But don't blame Apple & co when things start to go wrong.
