Still no 3G support!
can skype work on a non jailbroken touch2g? obv. assuming there is an attached mic.
If you want to use Skype over 3G, just jailbreak. I know a lot of people don't want to jailbreak for whatever reason, but it really does open up a whole new world for your phone. I'm not into theming or anything like that, but the iphone is capable of so much more once you jailbreak. If you're sick of playing by Apple and AT&T's ridiculous rules, give it a shot. It's so easy to jb and if you don't like it for whatever reason, you can just revert back to your pre-jb status. You don't lose anything by trying, right?
Jailbreak sucks
- Crashes & instability
- Malfunctioning & safety
- Invasion of privacy
- Exposing children to age-inappropriate content
- Viruses & malware
- Inability to update software
- Cellular network impact
- Piracy of developers' applications
- Instability of developers' applications
- Increased support burden
- Developer relationships
- The Apple/iPhone brand
- Limitation on ability to innovate
The app store has this as well. Fart apps. There are loads that do nothing other than the point you have made, on the actual app storeA majority of the iPhone apps on installer are absolute pointless. Also, people make a lot of apps just to prove the point that it is possible, but actually do nothing helpful for the user. I have two examples. I downloaded this one apps called cowbell… You tap on it and it makes a cowbell noise, this is self explanatory.
There are also apps that allow the iPhone and iPhone 3G to record proper videos, any length. There are also apps that enable MMS on the iPhone 2G (and these MMS apps were around before apple even got them to the market). There are also many tethering apps, apps that all background processes, apps that allow you to customise just about everything. All things users have requested that are slowly being implemented, all of which have been available to the jailbreaking community for months (And sometimes years). You have to be an idiot to damage an iPhone by jailbreaking it, and many of those points you raised earlier are total lies. There is also an app that lets your record videos, but only 5 seconds long. Then, the only way to get it onto your computer it to SSH into your iPhone. Trust me there are a lot more apps that do nothing helpful than apps that cool or help you get things done.
No it doesn'tYou love your iPhone and it already does everything you want it to.
Jeopardise what? If you're worried about bricking the iPhone, don't be. You have to be an idiot to do so, as people have already said. If something goes wrong, restore the iPhone in iTunes and apple won't know you ever jailbroke. DoneWhy should you jeopardize that?
Apple made it clear right here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3743
If you damage your iPhone, Apple wont fix it. Some of my friends have damaged their jailed iPhones and gotten full replacements! This is not a possibility for someone with a jailbroken iPhone. Apple will just say, The reason its not working is because you hacked it. Hacking your iPhone is not sanctioned by Apple, so whatever you do is at your own risk.
