I have skype app on a 3G 3.0 iphone. I tried the cydia app voIPover3G to get it working when not in WIFI. Didn't work, so I just purchased 3G unrestrictor. I uninstalled voIPover3G. I then turned the iPhone totally off and then added skype to 3G unrestrictor.

I still continue to get the error message when I dial a number from skype,
"You're offline. You need to be online to make a call." I press call anyway and it doesn't work.

I turned WIFI off to test it and also left it on without a WIFI network picked.

I am on T-Mobile pay as you go if that matters. But 3G unrestrictor does say it works on Edge so don't think that should matter...

Any other tricks anyone knows to get this thing to work?

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3GS (JB3.1, unlocked): Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7C144 Safari/528.16)

It takes the Skype app a few seconds to actually change your status to "Online" ... Assuming you've added Skype to 3G Unrestrictor, just open the app and make sure you're actually 'Online' before trying to make a call. Press the "Info" button (bottom right) to verify your status. ;)

I think it is not working because I don't have a data plan. Didn't know you needed one for this, but reading around more I realize you did. Feel stupid. Oh well.

This uses your data plan minutes then if, say, if I would get a limited data package?

Basically I am just tricking the app then. But I am using data from, say, T-mobile. The advantage is that data is cheaper than regular phone minutes? I guess if you would have unlimited data, but limited phone minutes is the real advantage. Am I understanding this right?
