Skype No Sound in Vista MacBook Pro 2009

I just got my new 2009 15" MacBook Pro. I have installed Vista and loaded my Boot Camp drivers. I am trying to use the built in microphone (in the left speaker) for Skype. It appears in the Sound menu in the control panel as a working audio input and sound recorder works perfectly as well. However, whenever I select the microphone in Skype, there is no sound. The mic comes up as a Cirrus Logic CS4206A(AB75) device. Again sound recorder is fine, its just Skype that won't get any input from the mic. I also tried this earlier in Windows 7 RC1 64 bit with no luck. Does anyone know how to use Skype in Boot Camp with the new MacBook Pro hardware?

In the past with my old vista lab tops I've had, I used to get these virus that were hard to get rid of, they messed up my audio stuff big time. The virus prevented me from using earphones/headset and a microphone. So do you have any type of Anti Virus program you can scan your computer with?

I used to have Vista audio problems - it was on a pre-Vista VAIO but might be of some interest. The problem I had was that Vista couldn't cope with having two audio outputs activated at once, the result being that it would ignore one of them. The solution I found was to disable all outputs except the one I wanted to use - then it would work fine. I know you are having problems with inputs but it may help to see if there is more than one input listed in the Vista audio devices window (right click on the volume icon in the mini-dock thing) and disable all except the one you want to use.

I tried disabling all of the audio playback and recording devices except for the speakers and the onboard mic. It didn't work. Just to make sure I am using the correct drivers, which audio chipset does the new 15" MacBook Pro use? It is currently using Cirrus drivers which are on the Boot Camp disc. I thought MacBook Pros used Sigmatel chipsets? The red optical light also stays on in the headphone jack when I am running Windows. Could this be a related problem?

I have the exact same laptop as yours, (besides the processor i got a 2.8) anyway, did you ever fix this problem? I have the same problem as well. I guess we have to wait until bootcamp releases new updates for the cirrus drivers

It seems to be a driver issue with the Cirrus Logic chipset that the new MBPs have. Previous generations used the Realtek chipset for sound which was well supported for drivers, but the current Cirrus chipset seems to have no freely available drivers (Cirrus merely refers you back to the manufacturer).

A lot of pee-ed off people out there. All I can suggest is that you contact Applecare (you get three months cover free) and register your problem. The more people make noise, the sooner it will be fixed.

i had the same problem but found a fix; install the drivers AFTER you upgrade to vista or to another windows release.

that fixed my problem. Also you should try out the flash-disk-automated-vista-install method, its really a time/effort/patience saver for multi PC/MAC users.

That's not a fix. That's common sense. Besides, we're talking about the mid 2009 Macbook Pros with the Cirrus Logic chipset, not earlier models.
