skype over 3g on 3gs?

I don't think Skype has been written for this purpose just yet... but no doubt it will come soooon.
no way really, when did you downloaded? I just tried it yesterday are you sure it's working? it doesn't make your skype crash? mine after install voipover3g makes my skype just crash. I am going to unistall skype install voipover3g and then skype see if that works.
dunno, something it's up, I will need to restore and then do it, because everytime I download voipover3g something crashes now the app store crashes so I can't download skype. lol, I will try the new method of redsnow, this was jailbroken with purplera1n. so I am going to try dev team.
Related topic....has anyone figured out how to enable (S)FTP on a jailbroken 3GS? I have VoIPOver3G successfully installed, but I want to be able to edit
/Library/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries/VoIPover3G.plist
so as to add SlingPlayer (com.slingmedia.SlingPlayer) as I did here in 2.2.1:

I installed OpenSSH 5.2p1-8 in Cydia. SSH works fine, but SFTP is not able to connect ("connection closed." error). For both SSH and SFTP I have tried root/alpine and mobile/alpine -- in both cases SSH session is fine but SFTP is not.

UPDATE: I was not able to get SFTP working, but I was able to use SCP. For reference I used these commands in the OS X Terminal:
note: iPhone's IP address on my network is 192.168.1.7
(to copy file from iPhone to my MacBook)
(to copy modified file back to my iPhone)
Now, I'm seeing the issue reported in other threads that both apps that I set VoIPover3G to interface with (Skype and SlingPlayer) crash as soon as they attempt to access the network. Skype crashes as soon as I click "Sign In", and Sling crashes on launch.
I'll update the thread again if I make any further progress; otherwise anyone with any suggestions/solutions, please join in!
note: iPhone's IP address on my network is 192.168.1.7

Anyone who says voipover3g and skype/sling/fring etc. Work on 3gs is mistaken...
It's amazing how many people here say it works and don't realize this is a 3gS post, as such it does not work with voipover3g. The app needs to be updated and until such time there is nothing anyone can do except wait.

You are completely right, thanks for the post, I restore my phone 3 times today with no luck, I did the redsnow as well as the purplera1n because I was told it works, I am glad to know that it doesn't work, so I can stop trying to get it to work.

I've heard back from the dev today. He is planning on releasing an update to VoIPover3G this week. So keep your eye on Cydia. He also said that he was planning to charge for the new version "but it will be cheap". He also mentioned that it will have a configuration interface, so presmumably no more .plist editing.
You heard it here first!!
For those above who think that VoIPover3G currently works with a 3Gs Iphone; it only appears that way. I can run Skype perfectly happily on my 3Gs. I can navigate through the pages no problem but as soon as I try to make a call, send a chat or access any online data it exits instantly. Cydia and App Store exit almost as soon as they have instantiated.

It would definately be nice if SlingPlayer is supported by default, there are lots of Sling users out there who need this support, definately would be willing to pay a few dollars for this app!

amazing how much different my iphone experience is w/o sling and skype on 3g... Is it like the app store where you download the program and then all updates are free, or even if I download it now, the update for the 3GS will cost money? What should I do? Download it now or it won't matter?
