Recently I posted a short guide on how to use Skype as a house monitor in the Mac Software/Apps thread and I never really thought how useful it is until today.
See, I turned on the PC in my apartment with Skype and a webcam and left this morning. Just now I tried to call it from my MBP C2D and long and behold, I see a live feed from my apartment 20 miles away. Then after a couple of minutes, I see a strange figure or a sillouette in the feed but I couldn't tell if someone is really inside my apartment without a permission or if it's just a shadow from the outside. After watching for a bit, I started realizing that the outside of my building is getting renovated and the figure I saw was a shadow of a maintenance guy from the outside.
Whew, that scared me a bit but I thought I'd share this. You never really know what happens when you leave your home and I think I'll keep this set-up for a while.
