Hi, not sure there is a solution to this problem…

I basically use my iPhone as an iPodTouch (with more features :)), so it's activated, jailbroken (and one of these days it might be unlocked…). The trouble is that the sleep button never worked. The only way I can restart the iPhone completely is by waiting for the battery to empty itself. I guess I voided my warranty, and even if I viriginize the iPhone, I cannot explain to Apple how I know that a button I'm not supposed to have used is actually dead…

This is not a big big problem, but I just wondered if it would be possible to create an app that would restart the iPhone, or that would simulate some input from the sleep button. Any thoughts? Thanks a lot!

Did the sleep button worked before you unlocked the iPhone? If it worked before, than it's a software issue which will call for a restore.

The sleep button never worked once I had activated the iPhone (using AppTap). And prior to activating it, I had no way to check the button.

So I'm sure it's not the unlock, but I'm not sure it's not the unconventional activation. Was this issue caused by some non-iTunes activations before?
