Hi,

  • I've got a new iMac 3Ghz and I have a few sleep/wake concerns. I've found that despite sending my mac to sleep at night, when I get up I can hear it is actually on and just with the screen off, so it must have woken up in the night then not slept properly. This seems to happen quite a bit.
  • I've also had a couple of occasions where it won't wake after sleep and I have to hold the power button down, not too big an issue, but not overly happy its already happened at least 3 times in the couple of weeks I've had it.
  • Also, is there anyway to stop the iMac waking on USB events? I find it annoying when the mac is asleep and I take my iPod Touch out its dock to leave for work and the mac wakes. There is no need for my mac to wake when I take my iPod out surely?
  • Furthermore I have an external hard drive on a special plug setup which means it gets turned off when my iMac sleeps, but this keeps causing my iMac to wake complaining of being dismounted improperly, I've found a solution to this (not tried it mind) yet my iMac will wake when the external hard disc is disconnected even if I have already unmounted it before sleeping. Why?

Any help would be appreciated!

Can't offer solutions, but my iMac often (not always) refuses to wake from sleep after it's dozed off with my firewire hard drive connected and mounted. I've never had the problem when I've already unmounted the drive before the computer goes to sleep. The only solution has been to shut down via the on/off button on the back of the computer, which is then followed by the warning that the drive has not been unmounted correctly.

I too would welcome a solution for this non-wake-from-sleep problem.
