I'm new to iMac and Mac on a whole. If I place my iMac in 'sleep' mode, but, I want it to still download data (sync items from Box.com to my iMac) during the night, would that work?

To put it simply, sometimes I set something to download, and with Windows, I'd merely turn the monitor off while it continues to process the download during the night. This operation is slightly different with an iMac, hence the question about sleep mode.

I don't think Power Nap is exactly what you're after. It works with a number of Apple apps, but it won't allow you to download in the background. If you want to sleep the display, which is what you are doing in Windows, you can use Control + Shift + Eject keyboard shortcut, or simply let the display turn off based on your Energy Saver settings (make sure the whole computer won't sleep, though).

The current iMacs don't have a sleep option, the CPU can and does go into low power mode. I'd put the screen to sleep and not worry about it :)
