Hi. Newbie to this forum. Anyone have tried the clear skin from slickwraps on the 14 inch macbook pro? How is the quality of the skin and cut outs? Also how was processing and shipping times? Also are there any alternatives for clear skins for this macbook pro? Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm not a fan of their skins or their company. Their customer service is terrible. I've ordered two different skins from them in the past and the quality was terrible. The shipping took several weeks and they refused to acknowledge that there was anything wrong with the skins and refused any type of replacement or return. That's been my experience with them.

I have them on order, it's been a month and no skin. I agree with DMG35, Slickwraps is "dirtbag" company. Email from them when I inquired about my order: nothing more than BLAH-BLAH-BLAH...

Hello,
I am sorry for the delay. Due to COVID we are working with limited staff. For this reason, our processing times are delayed. We are experiencing anywhere from at least a week to two weeks processing time at this time, but it can take longer. I am sorry again for the delay. Thanks for sticking by us during these difficult times.

Was also considering this.. Sorry to hear about both your woes with them. Sounds frustrating…

Adding to this is though is there currently does not seem to be any other options for clear skins for the 14 inch MacBook Pro.. does anyone have any other recommendations?

@synergize - hope they ship yours soon. It seems like they are more responsive if you file a report with BBB. Would appreciate if you can keep us posted…

Sure thing 612kimx1853, and you're correct, there are no clear skins since BSE went out of business. Hard to believe that on the entire planet there are no clear or mat skins. I can get my own PPF (paint protection film) material for cars, but there is no way to make accurate cuts and it would look awful.

I had delivery/shipping issues with them as well, and this was well before covid. Covid is just this year's excuse. Dbrand and Fishskyn make good skins, but I've also had shipping issues with Fishskyn. They at least respond to customers and thier delays haven't been huge.

Overall I would recommend Dbrand if they have a style you like. Good product and good delivery for me so far.

Thanks for sharing this. I’ve heard great things about Dbrand but was hoping for a clear skin. But that might change with what I am learning about Slickwraps. Is it easy to remove the dbrand skin in case I get it but there is a clear skin available later?

I received the 2021 MBP 16" Clear Slickwraps . They are fine. I am not a good "applicator" ended up with slight creases on the bottom and palmrest skins (the top applied perfectly). The set did not include skins for the sides. I used to prefer the wet applied Best Skins Ever (out of business since) that included all around side skins. They Slickwraps took a while to arrive, I emailed them and they responded and then shipped them. I know form past experience they would replace the two segments I messed up if asked for the cost of shipping - but the creases are not that visible and there is no assurance the next application would be better. It is a 3M material called Controltac - not sure how different from Dbrand (who does not offer clear skins).

If you are really set on a clear skin, you may have to order from slickwraps and accept the fact that you will have to call them after it is supposed to arrive, and ask them to ship the skin they should have already shipped.

Fiskskyn has a braoder selection of skin designs than Dbrand. Although I have a Dbrand on my Ipad PRo, I opted for a Fishskyn because I wanted it a different design. I am happy with the Fishskyn. You may want to see if they have a design that you like. I got a skin for the 2021 Macbook Pro 16" and the fit of the outside and inside skins were very good.

BTW the Fishskyn is a medium thickness, and the Dbrand 3M skins are a little thicker, so maybe a bit more protective. I have had Fishskyns on my last 3 Macbook though, and the protection seems fine against scuffs/scratches/etc.

Thanks for the details about Fishskyn and Dbrand. Those are very helpful to know. Came across a company called Sopiguard and they also seem to offer a clear skin for the 14 inch MacBook Pro. Anyone had any experience with their clear skins? Interesting they say use tap water rather than the soapy water that is needed for other clear skins..

Great - thank you for sharing this. How long would you say the total processing time took for yours before they shipped ? Also did you contact them using the form on their website or directly email them? I sent a question about current shipping times and availability but they haven’t gotten back to me.

Slickwraps mat skin arrived today, took about 6.5 weeks, the skin is gorgeous and 100% flawless. I would order again w/o question.

Their shipping times have zero to do with Covid. I experienced the same thing with them twice when I ordered before and this was long before Covid. They just suck as a company and when the skin they sent me wasn't even close to being cut right they refused to let me return it.

Yup...Idaho. The wait wait was worth it, the fit is absolute perfection and the install was simple. I followed the video for the 16" MBP on their website, took all of 15 minutes to install the skin.

No, I ordered the 14", they did not have a 14" install video, just the install video for the 16", so they are shipping the 14" skins.

I f*cked up. Ordered their matte skin for the 14inch Pro 2021, and it’s been weeks with no response, so I totally forgot about it. Once dbrand skins started to ship, I ordered one, it promptly arrived, and I love it.

Today my slickwraps skin arrived - finally. No big deal, I thought, I can return it… no! They have NO RETURN policy “due to COVID”.
Oh well. I wish I could sell it but I am a lazy one…

You have any photos you can show with the skin installed?
Sure, but the skin is hard to capture with the iPhone camera, it has a hard time focusing. It is a great fit, about 1mm all the way around the MBP, not sure what the sparkle is from on the skin, must be the camera. Enlarge the pic of the entire MBP to see the skin edges, that is all you can really see. The fit is as good as the wet install Best Skins Ever from a few years ago, too bad BSE did not survive the marketplace, I think they were repeatedly hacked.
