iPad Slide Over - is the window interactive?

None of the Youtube reviews actually show anyone touching inside the slide over window. They just slide it in, show the app switcher, then move on to something else.

Is the side panel interactive, or just a static snapshot?

It is interactive. For example, you can slide in Messages, compose a message, and then slide it away.

Just keep in mind while using slideover, the app underneath gets faded out and isn't responsive until you dismiss the slideover window.
