I've had this happen to me about 5 times in the past few weeks.

I can't recreate it in any way, but when it does happen it will just sit at a black screen till i hit the home button again. It acts like the screen was on though, so when i hit the home button when its on the black screen it will slide left to the search screen.

Just wondering if maybe i'm trying to unlock it way too fast or something. Or if anyone else has experienced this yet.

Oh and i'm on a 4s running 5.1.

Is that the Spotlight Search page you are seeing? It's the farthest to the left of all the home screens and appears black with a keyboard at the bottom and search panel at the top.

If not, try a hard reset: press/hold power and home buttons until white apple shows up, release.

I have this from time to time. I think its related to the siri raise to speak feature.

Well that's the screen that i see after i hit the home button. So i slide to unlock then it goes black. When i hit the home button again the main screen pops up and it slides to the left to the spotlight search screen.

Normally if you are at the first home screen and hit the home button it slides to the left to see the spotlight search. So its acting as if the screen is on after i unlock the phone, but its just a black screen.

i don't have that feature turned on, i make sure i have to hold the home button to bring up siri.

Sounds like there may be a hardware problem. When you unlock, you should go to the screen you were on when it locked, even if within an open app. Hit the home button once from there, and it's the main home screen. Once more, there's the search screen.

If you are still under warrantee, I think you might consider returning it for a replacement.

I was hoping there was a solution to this but looks like I will have to stop by apple and get an exchange.

My screen doesn't return to normal until I hit the power button off/on ; iPad 3.
