So I hit my air against the wall a long time ago -- it got a TINY slight bend in the corner nothing serious. We've see a million people post pics of it. This happened maybe 8-9 months ago.

This month, a chunk of my screen died. What they defined as a "pressure point" when I brought it to the mac store, it takes up about 8x8px of my screen leaving it dead white in a perfect circle.

They said normally this would be covered under warranty, but since I had gotten this slight cosmetic dent on the corner the "Genius" was being a complete dick telling me that if I wanted it fixed it would cost $750. I told him they were completley unrelated, that the dent as cosmetic as you could clearly see (the bend so slight) that it didn't have anything to do with the screen itself and he just kept saying "Sorry it's dented, and we would need to replace the monitor thus fixing your dent, so you will have to pay."

I completley understand they don't do accidental damage, but like... my dent is in the bottom right corner of the air, and this hole is all the way on the left side of the monitor... they are obviously two completley different issues and this is clearly a screen defect.

Is there anything I can do or say to get them to fix this? It's SO obvious it's a defect in the screen... gah. Frustrating...:mad::mad::mad:

I know this is not related to the Air but I have to get it out from my chest...about 6 months ago, T-Mobile even voided warranty on my 2 weeks old bad screen T-Mobile Wing. It looks just like new w/ no dents or scratches, they considered that as "an abuse from user".

They just send me another phone and charged me an out-of-warranty fee. When I asked them for my old phone back b/c I didn't want to pay the fee. They told me they couldn't do that.

what a dick
i'd take it to a different store
try try again

Agreed. Also, try to forget the previous Genius and stay calm, but speak firmly with the next person. It may help to get what you want.**

Good luck.

**While on the line for my iPhone 3G, the store announced they were out of the model I wanted, but may get some later. When it was my turn, I spoke with the Apple staff member and mentioned I'm really looking for that particular model and I'm willing to wait on the side and see if they have any left. They did and I walked out with my iPhone.

Another guy wanted the same model, but got in a huff when they ran out earlier and stormed out, without an iPhone.

Can you wait another month or so?

When the Dow-Jones reaches 6000, all consumer ripoff problems will be solved. If you bring your dented device in then, you will find them to be much more accommodating. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you might even start getting customer service from airlines.
