i need to restore my mac mini to factory default as i am selling it.
its the mid 2010 model (was snow leopard) i upgraded to lion.
..this may seem odd now but i sold the keyboard and trackpad for it a few months back as the app touchpad for iphone/ipad was all i needed. i had it hooked up to my TV, so it was only used for films really.

Anyway, Apples guide to restoring to factory defaults seem to require a keyboard to hold down C as you power up (with DVD installed) to be able to do this?

i have a copy of lion os x that i made before i upgraded it, so ive just put that in now & i'm at te stage where its saying it will be installed to Macintosh HD.
As i'm on the 'desktop' doing this i don't think its going to be able to wipe clean my HDD first is it? - just re-install lion...which is kinda pointless.

i have just got the new macbook air, which is what im on now...whether that can somehow connect on the macmini start up? ..doubt it though, same as 'touchpad' it connects after powerup :)

So, is there a way i can do this without having to borrow a keyboard from somewhere?

You are going to want to completely wipe that disc (and use the multi-pass, complete nuke option) I expect. Then re-install the OS.

You can use any USB keyboard at all, if you happen to have one. It doesn't have to be a mac keyboard. No computer in your house at all with a keyboard? Worst case, borrow a friend/relative's, I guess?
