Ok, this is seriously starting to get frustrating. I've had this thing for a couple of months now and when we first got it, HD movie rentals were ready to start playing literally within a few seconds. I should clarify that we have a 10 meg high speed Shaw Extreme cable connection.

Lately however, HD movie rentals seem to be taking forever to download. Sometimes they are not ready to play for two hours or more! I've also got to the point when I can tell if the movie will be slow downloading just by how fast the movie trailers load. If the blue load band zips across the bottom of the screen on a trailer then I know we're good, if it crawls or if the trailer keeps timing out, then I know downloads will be slow. I've also noticed that this seems to be specifically during what I would call peak periods, i.e., Friday and Saturday evenings which leads me to go hmmmmm.....

I'm bringing this up as it seems to be getting worse and worse over the last couple of months and not totally sure if it's us or if it's slow Apple servers. Anyone else in Canada (or U.S.) seeing this behaviour? Do Canadian rentals come from different servers than the U.S.?

Also should mention, AppleTV is connected via wireless N to a D-Link DIR-655 router using 1.11 firmware in the router. I don't think it's a wireless issue as this combo was fine two months ago. Also have latest firmware on the AppleTV.

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

No such problems in Ontario with Rogers. Not sure how long it would have taken to complete a dowload, but I rented a couple of movies at the weekend and they were ready to start viewing within a few seconds.

Same here, never had any problems.

Thanks to both of you for the feedback! I've got Shaw coming out on the weekend to check out my cable. Hopefully that's the issue, otherwise I have a bunch of troubleshooting to do to figure out the slowdown. Cheers!

I have normal Shaw Highspeed internet and have not noticed this problem. The most I've waited for a movie to be ready to play is probably <5 minutes. 8/10 times they are ready to go in 30 seconds.
