Just found an old 10W charger around with USBA to USBC cable and been thinking to use it to slow charge the iPad (usually at night) to help reduce stress (generating less heat on charging) on the battery... been doing thing with my iPhone and having great results.

is that ok to do this for iPad, despite the fact that can take longer to charge any additional negative effect?

I don't think any of my iPads have optimized charging option. Only the iPhones.

‘My M4 13” iPad most certainly has an 80% charging option. Hopefully all Apple devices will have this soon!

That's 80% limit though which is different from optimized charging. Plus it's only available on the latest iPad models.

The 80% limit on iPhones is limited to just the 15 series so it seems unlikely that 80% limit will be added to older iPads. Iirc, there’s no such feature on the 18 beta on older iPad models.

Yes.

But also yes \/
“Slow charging” does nothing material. You’re chasing infinitesimal benefits. It’s more of the battery life mania that infests MacRumors.
That is, you can do it but don’t expect some guaranteed (fantastic) results.

Absolutely nothing wrong with this OP, i do the same with my old 12w iPad Air 3 charger to reduce heat on my M4 IPP or iPhone 15 Pro. I have many high wattage GaN chargers to use when i need to urgently fast charge though. Personally imo a 20w GaN charger is the sweet spot as it produces about the same heat as an older silicon 12w charger, but with slightly faster charging speed.
