Slow downloads

My PC downloads at 70-100 but for some reason this MBP can't pass 20....and when someone tries to send me a file over AdiumX it doesn't pass 3 or 4, is there a setting or something that limits downloads speeds?
Also does Proteus work on intel macs? cause it ain't working on this.

Have they got identical network set ups? Are they both connected by cables?

ok i was on my wireless, but now i'm sharing the same ADSL router (connected by cables) and it's going at 2.9kbs....

What else is using the connection at the same time? Do you have a firewall involved?

nope no firewall, and nothing else on it. Right now i'm downloading at 30...and that's a torrent which is unusual...oh well ill just watch it some more.
