Setup:

10 OS X Machines (10.9 – 10.10.2)
OS X Server Running on 10.10.2 hooked up to a Thunderbolt 2 Lacie disk.

I’m using OS X Server for File Sharing (Permissions) and using it as the DNS Server, which a Static IP assigned to the Mac running OS X Server.

Users are having inconsistent results when using the network. Sometimes finder loads files quickly and other times it won’t even let them connect to the network.

I don’t have the computer running OS X Server hardlined into the router, but I don’t see why that would be an issue.

I can’t tell if it’s a 10.10.x WiFi issue or just an improperly set up network (I’m new to this).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Agreed with dyt1983. Definitely use Ethernet. You'll be shocked at how much more reliable it is.
