This is general for Yosemite, but I choose an example from Mail to descibe what I mean:

Before Yosemite I could start writing the recipient *directly* after I hitted COM+N.
Now I have to wait a while before Mail respond to what I write. Like the OS doesn't accept me writing if it's doing something else (like creating the New Mail window etc).

This slow responce is visible everywhere since Yosemite, but it's easiest to observe in Mail.

This is not acceptable. It disturbs my work speed. More than one could think...

Any ideas how to avoid this?

This is notable on newer systems as well. They have missed to support entry from keys when the system is occupied, is my guess.

Always 9 good things and 1 really crappy one from Apple. I wonder when everything will be 100% perfect?

Slow keyboard entry

I'm having the same problem with my July 2012 iMac. Updated to Yosemite and now the keyboard is almost unusable for the majority of tasks. It works fine in the URL bar of the browser and for some system windows like the password screen. But even in applications like Text Edit it is sluggish and misses key presses sometimes repeatedly. i.e. you press 't' three times before it registers. The keys continually lag half-a-second behind key presses. SO ANNOYING! I have a ton of typing to do! APPLE PLEASE ISSUE A FIX FOR THIS???????

Do a reinstall of the OS, then try a fresh install. This isnt consistent Yosemite behaviour so likely an install issue.

In activity monitor is anything chewing cpu?
