Ever since I upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 5 the home button is slow and delayed. When I press home I have to press it very deliberately to get my phone to wake up and I can barely do the double tap to reveal multitasking anymore as it usually doesn't recognize the second tap and just closes out of whatever I'm in . Also when I press the power button to wake it usually is delayed as well. Everything else seams to be fast though. its annoying but I guess manageable...I just want to make sure there isn't anything wrong with my phone or if anyone else has this issue? :O

You could try doing a restore- sometimes that solves weird issues like this. My iP4 doesn't have the issue yours is having.

You explained my exact issue! i just assume it's the same reason my iPad 1 got slower...iOS updates make previous models less responsive in hopes of me giving into my frustration and buying the new version.

My home button in iPhone 4 is also very unresponsive after iOS 5 update. Sometimes it interprets two presses when I do one and sometimes it doesnt register anything at all.

If you google for this, it has been a longtime lingering issue with the iPhone 4, before iOS 5. It seems like a hardware defect for many (but obviously each case could be different.)

I was having the same issue until I dropped my phone the other day and cracked the rear glass (luckily not the front!!). Now my button works perfectly!

I would not advise you try it however. ;) I think in my case there was dust preventing good electrical contact underneath the button, and dropping it dislodged the dust. When I get a new back cover I guess I can inspect it then.

id take it back to apple before warranty runs out and get a new one.
simple. if it keeps doing it after that, then you have badluck.

Triple Click Home

There is a fix to this. Go to settings, general, accessability, triple click home. Turn off the triple click home options. Instant fix. :D

Also, you could activate the assistive touch. This puts an icon on the screen that gives you touch-screen options to replace many of the home button actions. Saves wear and tear on the home button. However, even though the icon can be moved anywhere on the screen, sometimes it gets in the way on the iPhone's small screen. It's fine on an iPad.

Settings > General > Accessibility > Assistive Touch > On

Try goin into Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. Not sure exactly what it does, I think it deletes save point files left behind from previous times u synced ur phone; files that aren't compatible with or relevant to iOS 5. But whatever it does it sped the responsiveness of my home button up ALOT on my 3GS, as it became pretty slow and unresponsive after installing iOS 5 on it.

Fair warning, after u do this and ur phone will reboots it will bring u back to the iOS 5 first time set up screen but don't be alarmed, all of ur files, ringtones, apps, etc will still be on the phone. But the home screen, main ring and text tone, brightness, volume, etc will be set back to stock. All easy things to set back to ur preference tho :)

Sounds a bit... cynical!

I have the same issue. Double tap to bring up task manager seems to be more iffy after the upgrade to 5.1. I tried the suggestion above and it didn't improve things much.

I had the same issues, sometimes had to press really hard, double tap was really difficult, just generally rubbish...

Try this, it might sound like something that could never work, but I hand on heart swear it fixed my iPhone 4 button.

Plug in power socket and charge phone
Hold down home button so voice command comes up
Don't let go and then press "cancel" on screen

My home button is perfect now, it's almost unbelievable, I was close to getting it repaired which would have cost a lot.
