Hi there oh knowledgeable ones!

I have two identical 2009 iMacs that are connected to the same network at the office. They're connected to the same router which is then connected to the wall ethernet port. One is terribly slow and is only putting up speeds as low as .27 Mbps download and .09 Mbps upload. I switched cables, rebooted and got the same out come. So I replaced the machine and brought it home for surgery. At home, it works much better (even though I haven't done anything to it yet) putting up 12.8 Mbps download and 1.98 upload. My other iMac, a 2011, registers download speeds as high as 24.2 Mbps. I live in an area with limited internet service providers so my connection at home is not the best. But in the office, I have far greater bandwidth so I should be putting up better speeds.

Anyone have any thoughts?

When you switched cables, did that also include switching ports at the router?

In Activity Monitor, do the various tabs (CPU, Memory, Disk, Network) show anything unusual (like, is the CPU really busy doing something else)?

Hopefully these aren't original drives ...

What are you using to measure internet speeds? "Speed Test"

If you do a local file transfer, same issue (one system fast and one slow)?
