Slow jumpy scrolling

Does anyone have a problem using the trackpad on such sites as gmail? I find it is somewhat staccato - not very fluid and sometimes slow. The batteries are fine, and it is not problematic on all sites. Sometimes the scrolling is super-smooth. I have tried adjusting the speeds/etc of the trackpad but it doesn't seem to improve this on the problem sites. The sites themselves are very common, safe sites.
It may be my imagination, but I noticed this might have started after I downloaded Aperture from the app store....
Suggestions?
