Hi all
Anyone tell me why my late 2013 21.5" mac has slowed right down and the fan runs most of the time after i installed a new ssd, memory and a new LCD screen?? its mostly gone slow since the LCD was replaced!!
Many thanks

Those computers were not made with SSD's in mind, I believe there is a sensor in side that would be attached to the original hard drive to run the fans when needed. With it not there they just run all the time. You can download software that allows you to control the fan itself. I have this on an old Mac Mini that I replaced the original hard drive with an SSD and use it to run a wide format printer I have. I keep the fans on a low setting, don't think it is a huge thing as this should be separate from the CPU fan... I think.

Curious how much all of that cost? The screen I would imagine is a pretty expensive thing to replace. Might have made more sense to look for a newer iMac.

You could try doing a clean install of the MacOS, not sure how long you have been on the install you have now, but that can breath new life into the computer as well.

Cheers for that, no sign of a sensor being on the old drive.i was wondering about a clean install as i cloned the old drive onto the new ssd. Ive grown attached to the old girl lol been a good machine up until i did the upgrades. I might give a new install a go and see how that turns out. Thanks again for your help.
Ps it just seems to have happened when i put the new LCD on this morning!!

run a nice and thorough first aid test, and which operating system are we using?
also zapping the pram a lot helps these iMacs.

Doing a clean install at the moment. “Zapping the pram” that’s a new one!!

Macs naturally slow down over time. I think it's an intended feature by Apple to get customers to switch every 2 years.

If you want a machine that doesn't slow down and have problems, buy a Windows PC.
