Slow Opening Of Dock WORD Alias ?

Hi,

No big deal, but was wondering:

I have the newest version. of WORD and EXCEL which I bought with the iMac a
few months ago.
Both work fine.

But-

I have an Alias icon in the Dock for both.

When I click on either, it almost seems like you can go out for a cup of coffee before either
actually open up. Icon just bounces up and down, seemingly forever.

Is this "normal" ?
Any way of speeding up their openings ?

Not really. The Microsoft apps are large and complex, carrying a lot of legacy features. They are what they are.
