Slow shipping from Apple of Final cut Studio? (bought FCP on ebay)

Hi Everyone,

8 days ago, I bought Final Cut Studio (new) on ebay from a seller who had over 300+ of positive feedback.

It has been 8 days since I paid for the item, and he writes me that Apple has not shipped him the software yet, and that since they sent it regular mail, that they (nor he) can track the shipment.

Does this sound legitimate to you?

I think that 8 days after immediate payment, that it is unreasonable that the seller has not even received the product from Apple yet.

Also... I thought that Apple sent things via FedEx? All 4 items that I recently bought from Apple arrived visa FedEx ground.

I would give the person a tad more time.

I too ordered the FCP Package from Apple, they are indeed shipping 'media' mail and that could take 2-3 weeks (at least here to Alaska).

If he placed an order through the upgrade service, it will take some time... there is no way of him tracking it on his end either.

It only took like 3 days for Apple to send the FC Studio upgrade to me through regular mail. I mailed my FCP disc back on Monday and got FCS in the mail on Thursday.

But I think I would give the guy another day or two before taking further steps. Weird things can happen with mail sometimes. (Which is really annoying when you're waiting for something like new software.)

Did the seller disclose in the auction that they did not have the software, and that shipping would happen at some point later than the end of the auction?

If they didn't, then they are in violation of the eBay seller rules.

Whats probably happening here is he bought an upgrade, he's gonna install the software on his machine first, then send you the disks. Which is piracy, of course, because he cannot sell it to you while it remains on his machine.

Thanks for your feedback, guys...

In the auction description, it states that the FCS software is new, sealed and never used, and not the academic version.

So, does this mean that he is a reseller? If so, how can he sell FCS for under $900?

I don't want to disclose who the seller is, because I don't think that it would be fair at this point.

In the ad, he mentioned that Apple had alreeady shipped the package to him... so, it has taken 8 days so far to get it to him.

I already sent him an email today stating that if he did not receive the package today, then I would like a refund, but... I might give him until Monday or Tuesday.

The urgency is that I need to begin the online edit of a documentary film and I need the software ASAP.
