Slow shipping?

Ok, so I'm really scratching my head here. I'm yet another first time Mac buyer (used PCs for nearly two decades, server admin, but also web designer and photographer) and I've been reading this forum a lot.

Since I placed my order on Monday evening, I've watched other people order and receive their Macbooks, yet mine isn't due on my doorstep until this coming Tuesday...8 days from when I ordered it. And I paid extra for 2 day shipping.

The only guess I have is that either the matte screen or the hard drive I chose caused the delay. *shrug* It's really frustrating though. Some here ordered there's on Tuesday, the day after me, and had it within two days...

That's what I thought too, but RBasil (seen on this thread) order his 17" MBP w/ a 200GB hard drive on Tuesday, the day after me, and received it Friday.

Which is why I'm thinking it's got to be because of the screen or the hard drive I chose.

That's what I'd think too...must've been short on inventory for your specific parts..

MacBooks have had a short delay recently -- I had 6 regular MacBooks on order that finally shipped Friday from February 26th. None were custom in any way, black and white versions.

I completely understand shipping delays, hey it happens. I was a little upset that it didn't ship out until the 9th, although my order said it would ship the 6th-8th.

What irritates me is that other people have ordered MBPs (even custom configured) after me and already have them while I'm still waiting.

It's not a HUGE deal, just would have been really nice to have it this weekend, and 8 days seems like a long time to wait, when others are getting them in 2.

My replacement macbook was shipped out the last day it was supposed to but it shipped Thursday and going to be here tomorrow.

I know back in November when I ordered my 20inch Imac, I ordered it at 8am est to a 800 number and certain extension which is suppose to be faster than web sales, and the system was custom, built in CA on the same day and shipped on the same day. I choose ground shipping, boy was that a mistake, it took FedEx Ground the maximum days to get it too me. I called several times to apple and they said that sometimes orders will sit in a trailer till its full than FedEx comes and gets the trailer and the shipping on there part begins. Could be a crock, maybe not, all I know is 2 shipping is the way I go from now on.

I'm typing this on my new MBP. My first mac ever.

Everything arrived this morning, which means the MBP was technically a day early, though it shipped a day late....

Anywho...this is great.

Congrats...you'll love it. I know I love my new MBP.. Talk about shipping delays--I ordered one of those new Airport Extreme base Stations same day as I ordered my MBP (3/4/07), I got my MBP on 3/6/07, & the AEBS still hasn't even shipped according to my account info at the online Apple store..

Heh, I don't think you should complain about shipping. It took me 3 weeks to get my MBP and iMac to Ireland. And I paid for a faster delivery method too!
