When SMS input gets slow don't restart the phone (as this does solves the issue). Open up the SMS app and then press and hold the home button until it closes. When you restart SMS, input will be fast again.

This, I presume, is because the "press and hold home button" method properly closes apps and thus clears out the memory usage of SMS which, I once again presume, is the cause of the sluggishness

You can presume all you like but the "press and hold home button" method is actually the equivalent of Force Quit. It probably mops up any memory that may have leaked, so it is a reasonable work-around.

In that case it will mop up the leaked memory and thus make the app more responsive.

Thanks for info

another solution I've found is to press the home button, then open the calender app, press the home button and open SMS again - it works every time for me!

for me just pressing home and re-entering SMS fixes it for a while.

i thought apple fixed this issue with 2.0.1?

slow typing is caused by safari

whenever you get the slow typing thing, open safari and navigate to a "simple" page (like google.com)

you won't be bothered by slow typing again until you leave safari on some other webpage for a while...

happens to me sometimes

this has been happening to me on and off since i went to 2.0.

not on the latest version and still happens sometimes, next time it does i'll try holding the home button to see what it does.
