My MBP is experiencing incredibly slow starts. Once it gets past the login screen, it takes over a minute for any program to be able to start. On my iBook, it only takes a couple of seconds after the login. Even if I log out and back in on the MBP, loading is still slower than my iBook. Any ideas about what's going on?

If you go into System Preferences...->Accounts->[your account]->Login Items, what all is listed there?
Also, if you create a new account (which you can delete in a minute) and log into that instead, is the startup much faster?

The only two listed in Login Items are LittleSnitch and iTunes Helper. Since I didn't have much on my MBP, I decided to just reinstall OS X then slowly install my apps to see which would slow down my system. It looks like ShapeShifter is the culprit. Although I'm not absolutely positive on it because my MBP slows down after it's installed, but when it's uninstalled, the system remains slow.
I'm not entirely sure that the uninstall of ShapeShifter truly removes all of its tendrils from the kernel.
It's a little weird because I've never had any issues when using it on PPC systems. Oh well, I bought bought a Mac to do work, so my desktop doesn't need to be pretty. Thanks for the replies guys.
I think it injects a lot of PPC code, which needs to be run via Rosetta on an an Intel system, which is quite a problem when that code is near the kernel.
