i have a c2d mbp and when i start up, it takes like a minute before the apple to appear on the screen, but after that its normal, when i first bought it it would start up in like 10 seconds now it pauses at a white screen then starts up, any help would be appreciated thanks

I ave the same thing happen,
I had a problem with my optical drive so sent it bac to the mac shop, when i got it bac it now takes a min to get to the apple, i figured that as the apple techs had sent it bac to me like that, it must not be too much of a deal, you cud always go and get it checked out tho

Jus fixed this problem, it was the start up disk was not highlighted, if you go to system pref's > start up disk, and highlight the 10.4 folder and then restart, you might find things speed up alot, Well it work for me and its now flying.
Hope this helps.
The reason it was white, was because it was looking for the start up disk.
