Hey guys,

I had windows xp installed on my macbook pro but it was causing way too many problems so I used bootcamp and merged the two partitioned volumes back together with the intention of re-installing windows some other time when I was free. However ever since I did that my computer starts exceptionally slow. Everything is normal but whenever I turn it on or restart that grey screen comes up and I hear the familiar osx *ding* and then it just gets stuck there for about 30-40 seconds before the apple logo finally comes up.

Is there any way to fix this problem. I really don't want to format and re-install osx.

Thanks a lot. Cheers.

Go to system preferences, then startup disk, and select OS X

I already did that after I merged the two volumes. Sorry for not saying it earlier.

Go to Disk Utility in the Utilities folder and verify your hard drive. If it comes back with any errors, then start up from the OSX discs (boot holding C) and repair your drives form the bundled version of Disk Utility. :)
