I have an original silver iMac, the processor is still pretty good by todays standards and yet it feels sluggish when I start it up. If i log out and log back in again after starting everything runs 2 maybe 3 times faster. Safari and mail pop up instantly and photoshop now takes less then 10 seconds to think about it. This is obviously the true speed of the computer and I just never realised quite how slow it is without this.

I have tried this multiple times and it's the same every time. It can't be anything i'm running as i'm running exactly the same every time.

What could be the explanation for this? Anyone else tried this just after starting up?

Thanks for any help.

Well that may explain it. I dunno how that effects applications I didn't launch the first time i logged in but maybe all the apps are loaded while closed. Shame I can't make it that fast all the time but hey.
