I've had my Air for a couple of months now and very happy with it. However I've noticed if I copy a large about of data to it, lets say around 2gb from a USB or network drive it grinds to a halt. It would start off saying 10 minutes to copy, then get to about 800mb and slow down to about 24 hours to copy.

Has anyone any ideas or similar issues?

Thanks

SSD technology is known to have slower sequential write (copy one large file to disk) than standard hard drives. I've read about it in the Anandtech review and confirmed for myself when I did the swap to SSD. I used Xbench on my old 1.8HDD and SSD. the SSD did show a slightly lower performance on sequential writes. the SSD has a HUGE advantage over hard drives in the random read tests.

Test with SSD:
Disk Test 46.10
Sequential 38.75
Uncached Write 28.26 17.35 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Write 43.82 24.79 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Uncached Read 28.77 8.42 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Read 97.43 48.97 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Random 56.90
Uncached Write 20.93 2.22 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Write 56.44 18.07 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Uncached Read 1012.90 7.18 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Read 262.83 48.77 MB/sec [256K blocks]

test with HDD:
Disk Test 29.99
Sequential 46.03
Uncached Write 55.05 33.80 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Write 60.65 34.31 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Uncached Read 26.78 7.84 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Read 67.05 33.70 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Random 22.24
Uncached Write 7.58 0.80 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Write 65.87 21.09 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Uncached Read 50.57 0.36 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Read 76.57 14.21 MB/sec [256K blocks]

Sorry to drag this back up, but what SSD did you use ?
