Slow to startup?

My Big Sur testing is going really well, and like I have said before, it is pretty good. One thing that is bugging me a bit though, is that it feels like it is a lot slower to boot up and get to the login screen...

I did an upgrade to a functioning Catalina system, and it wasn’t fast then either, but rather took something like 25-30 seconds from power-on to login screen. Now it takes about a minute, and I hope this is one of the things they are working on improving.

Power-on - 7 seconds to chime - 10 seconds to Apple logo - 60 seconds to login screen - 75 seconds to all is up and running.

Am I the only one with this problem?

On my 16" MBP it seems like even more - 15 seconds or so between power button and the startup chime, instead of it being near instant which is what I'm used to. Have you found any fixes to this behavior?

Same issue with me on the public beta. Resetting SMC and PRAM doesn't work. Hope Apple fixes it in the next update.

It has been an issues since Alpha 1, and there has been no fixes to the slow boot-up, from power-on to Apple logo. I have it on my Mac Pro, MacBook Pro, MacBook, and my Mac Mini.

I wonder if it's because they're having the T2 chip load up a lot more before initializing the rest of the system. They made the chime high quality audio for example, maybe the delay is the T2/BridgeOS initializing a lot more stuff.

But it needs to at least be updated to give some visual or auditory acknowledgement that the system is booting. As it stands, you press the power button, and it literally seems like the computer is doing nothing for a pretty large period of time.

I've noticed a slowdown as well on my Air and the MBP I use at work. Specifically after I type in my password, the little loading bar takes nearly a full minute to fill up. It's just a beta though so I'm sure it'll get faster by release.

EDIT: I should also mention, I did file a bug report about it to bring attention to it.
