Ive tested it and re-tested it for the past 2 hours. Downloading torrents are slower with Big Sur by about 40%.

Power cycled the router and ISP modem. Power cycled my MacAir several times. Performed speed tests using different local servers via SpeedTest.net App on MacAir; im getting full speed that I pay for. But when it comes to torrents, download speeds are far slower and i'm connecting to far fewer seeds, vs Catalina.

Im running Qbittorent 4.3.0

Out of 7,000 seeds, I only connect to 2 seeds at most.

WOW! I thought it was an issue with SUR. I've been on the developers for months and thought it was an issue with the operating system and thought that when the final release has been done it would be fine but no. Seeds are very very low. I'm on a gigabit fibre network and should download in seconds but it's not picking up say it states 1000 seeds and it kicks up 3 or 4. I'm glad it's not an issue on my end. Needs updating.

I got a 70% degradation in download speed with qbittorrent. I'm on 1000 fiber, usually it maxes out around 50MB/s over wifi, now it's only 15.

So I know why this happens.

When u go to connection settings u can insert how many connections per torrent u allow. Unfortunately it defaults to 5... I don't know why just 5 but if u change to anything else, like 200, u get 200 connections and the download speed is fast.

However.

As soon as u restart the app it jumps back to 5 connections (even if it shows ur last inserted amount) so it gets slow again.

I went back to transmission cuz it sucks to have to manually change the maximum connections every time you start the app so it doesn't default to 5...

Just wanted u guys to know. I do think that its a permission issue...

In QB settings, it shows 2,000 Global Max connections as i had it set when I was using Catalina.

I lowered max global connections to 1500 and seems to solve the issue. It was a random number that I chose for no p

Im getting much faster download speeds and connecting to +200 seeds.

Closed QB and restart it several times and seems to be working fine now. But a proper update is needed from QB developers.

Have you tried Transmission? With Catalina it was the fastest torrent downloader; let me know!

I tried installing Trasmission tonight but it won’t install. It opens up and alows me to use it, but as soon as I close it, it disappears and I have to go through installation process all over again.

Yes, I dragged it in to Applications folder, but disappears as soon as I close it. Might have to be updated by dev team for Big Sur.

i have tested both QBittorent and TransmissionBT on Mac OS Big Sur and i am fully satisfied with Transmission client. D/L speed is very good and interface of this client is also very user-friendly.

I have also faced slow D/L speeds on Qbittorent so i have decided to leave it

Qbittorrent works fine for me. Max no of connections per torrent stays at 50.

If you use QB, Remove the download speed limit can slove this problem.
Even by doing this it's a temporary fix. Sometimes downloads just keep saying downloading metadata and stick there. Even killing the app and starting up doesn't do anything. For me a reboot is the only thing that resolved having the torrents download. After that i have to change the seeder values again to obtain more seeders. Definitely needs updating as it's a bug

I got Transmission to work today. Its a great little software, but the font is so tiny!! The font is WAY smaller on TM than on QB.

How is anyone supposed to read the info in TM with such a tiny font??

The issue is do to Big Sur, no longer having an option to globaly increase text/font in Display properties.
