Hi guys
I have strange problem with using VPN in my rmbp
I made some speed tests and i got poor speeds..
connecting to the same network , speed test results on my mac : down 10mb/s up : 3mb/s
on my iPhone i get down : 20mb/s and up : 3mb/s
so my iPhone getting double the speed that i get with my mac
I use openvpn on OS X and iOS , i tried Viscosity and Tunnelblick " same problem "
I'm using little snitch to make traffic go only if VPN connected " don't know if that's the problem "
on iOS i'm using cydia tweak called VPNOnly 8 for the same goal
I get the same upload speed but my download speed on iPhone is double the speed i get on the Mac
Does anybody have any ideas what causing this to happen ?
Edit : also the ping is the same when testing on my mac and iOS

How many times, after connecting and re-connecting, have you done those speed tests?

It's probably your VPN service. Those are two different connections. I've seen significant differences in speeds via VPN when connected to the same server at different times which may be because of the particular connection that was given.

many times like 100+ tests , it's not my provider , on the iPhone i get consistent results every time with high speeds , never got poor results , but the problem only in OS X , i don't know if it's the little snitch problem or the openvpn client or maybe the discoveryd that replaced mDNSresponder!

I don't know if the discoveryd issues would affect your connection or not.

Does you VPN service allow L2TP or PPTP connections and, if so, have you tested that way?

yes i tried , on mac os x the best result was better by 1mb/s nothing more nothing less , however on iOS when using the openvpn the speed is better than l2tp and works really good ..

i just tried with bootcamp now in windows 7 and the speed is good as it should be , it's the OS X of course ! i have rMBP mid 2014 15inch 512gb ssd , maybe 10.10.4 or el captain with mDNSresponder will solve the problem !

like I thought , after updating to 10.10.4 my speed has been excellent and absolutely the cause of the problem was discoveryd , now with MDNSResponder my overall network connectivy is very good and consistent , Finally !
