Friends,

I have a internet 300 mbps speed, its a fibre line, ISP gave me a wifi router, but i disabled its wifi and connected time capsule 2tb with it by ethernet cable, if i test the speed on my iPhone 6 plus, 7 plus and xs max as well as on ipad (speedtest app) it shows me nearby 300 mbps and same in upload, but if i check the speed on my iMac 27" and macbook pro 16" and other windows based laptops like Asus, acer, lenovo, it shows me speed maximum 50mbps, i am losted, my main work is on mac and laptops. please help me

Are the iMac, macbook pro and other devices connected via ethernet or wireless?

If you disable the time capsule and connect wirelessly to the ISP router what results do you get?

Almost no consumer ISP on earth enables equal upload as download. I'm inclined to bet that your "problem" is just that you are paying too much attention to an unreliable iOS speedtest app. As long as your iMac and laptops are connecting with 5.0 they are hitting your wifi network's max speeds.

Speedtest is reliable as long as you compare the speeds using the same server. If one device can achieve 300 while another can do only 50Mbps from the same distance to the router clearly there's something not quite right.

everything is connected wirelessly
i tried connecting with isp router and results are same

If you sit closer to the router does the speed increase? Try disconnecting all the other wifi devices.

Ignore him, that claim about upload speeds is simply ridiculous lol. I've personally seen several cases where upload speeds were actually FASTER than download.

I am annoyed by this thing, my iphone and ipad giving 300 mbps speed whereas all laptop and imac on,y 50 mbps, i forgot to mention that my time capsule is only setup for 2.4ghz band, i have disabled 5ghz

Did you try to restore your Time Capsule?

Without getting too far into a long story, I had an issue with my wireless network on the 2.4GHz band using the 6th generation AirPort Extreme, which normally I would troubleshoot, but I decided to try a Linksys Velop Tri-Band Mesh Wifi system as I thought the AirPort Extreme was getting old and I expected a big performance increase with the Mesh system.

The performance wasn't better on the mesh system, and it seemed like it was at times much worse on the new system.

I ended up troubleshooting my brand new mesh system, and I found out that the 2.4GHz band was oversaturated in my area, so when the "seamless" band switching decided to use the 2.4GHz band, my wifi speeds dropped like a brick.

In addition to this, I started to have a bunch of other issues I won't get into.

Before the return period ended, I returned the Linksys Velop system and returned to my old AirPort Extreme. I did a factory restore, and set up the APE based on what I learned when trouble shooting the Linksys system.

To my surprise, the old Apple router out performed the brand new Velop system, and by a lot. I switched the majority of devices to the 5GHz band, and named the 2.4GHz band differently, and had the devices that were not 5GHz compatible on the problematic 2.4GHz band. This seemed to increase the overall performance.

I think the factory reset may have corrected some bad behavior as well.

I have since purchased a second 6th gen AirPort Extreme to increase the coverage to where I park my car, and think I will stick with this until Wifi6 systems come down in price.

Is there a reason for this?

Enable the 5GHz, and see if you have the same issue.

Why did you disable 5 Ghz? That normally is the fastest band.

I found out that the 2.4GHz band was oversaturated in my area, so when the "seamless" band switching decided to use the 2.4GHz band, my wifi speeds dropped like a brick.

Check out whether you have conflicts with other routers. Option click the wifi button in the finder bar and open wireless diagnostics. In Diagnostics hit Window/Wirless diagnostics. In my case I have 21 routers using 2.4 GHz. You can try setting your router to a channel which isn't used as much.

The devices that you have, are they 801.11 a,g,n,ac or ax?

Yeah, I agree.

OP, I would try the 5GHz band, I bet your performance would increase a lot.

As a part of my troubleshooting I did a while back with the Linksys Velop system, I used Apple's wireless diagnostic tool to scan the area. That is where I found an overcrowding of the 2.4GHz band, and also started using Apple suggested channel.

I ended up returning the Linksys system and sticking with the old, but better performing AirPort Extreme, changing some of the networking settings based off of the results of the wireless diagnostic tool, such as the channel, to provide a better experience.

I am unsure if this was meant for me or the OP, nor do I understand if you are asking about my devices or the other networks in my area.

If asking about my devices, they are mostly ac and n.

If asking about the networks on my area, they are mostly ac and a few b/g/n.

I had a friend who had exactly this issue. I found the thread below and after trying the recommendations in post #2, it worked for him....fixed the speed issue immediately

He did admit to feeling like it was outside of his comfort zone, but went ahead carefully and it's been fine since.
