Slowed down start time of top spec iMac

Hey there

I would like some advice and if anyone else has experienced this.

My 27inch iMac is only 3wks old so I already have El Capitan installed.

Once all my software was installed my iMac was taking 16secs to load from button press.

I installed the new El Capitan update and then I had no bluethtooth working, so I reinstalled El Capitan (restore not a clean copy).

My iMac now from pressing the button is taking 26secs to load. Is this normal, is anyone experiencing this?

Just fixed it for anyone who runs into this problem.

Open finder, GO, Go to Folder, and delete contents in /library/caches, ~/library/caches, /Library/startupitems, /Library/launchdaemons, /library/launchagents, ~/library/launchagents

Booting fast again!

Trashing the caches is typically not a problem. However, folks often have launchagents and daemons they want to keep. A better approach is to use the freely available Etrecheck to find out what is loaded and selectively remove agent files until the problem disappears. This method allows the user to identify the problem agent instead of simply tossing everything.

I have trashed them all, what are the launchagents and daemons for? Will this cause any problems I should be aware of?

This is my list of software and hardware-

UAD Apollo 8 interface with UAD software
Logic Pro X
FCPX/ColorFinale/NeatVideo/TrackX/SliceX

If the trash has not been emptied, you might be able to restore. Failing that, you just have to hope the apps you use don't rely on a launch agent; This is why running something like Etrecheck is a good idea. Plus Etrecheck produces a report which can be posted in an online forum like this one and allows others to evaluate and provide input. It it almost impossible to help you via this online forum when you've emptied the trash on your launchagents and daemons. Maybe you have a backup ( Time Machine or clone ) and can restore just these directories and then proceed with Etrecheck.

Launchagents and daemons provide different functionality for each app, so it is difficult to say what they might have done now that they're gone. Generally, they provide background assistance often watching for specific events. For example, some clone apps, like SuperDuper(SD), run a daemon in the background whose job is to check if it is time to run a scheduled backup. In SuperDuper's case the daemon runs when SD isn't running thus allowing the user to quit the SD app. Other daemons might watch for a certain app to quit so they can clean up files( Cookie does this ).
