Does anyone else hear small clicking sound from their Apple TV. I have mine in the bedroom and when its quiet I hear those small clicking sounds coming from Apple TV. It could be 10 seconds or so between the sounds. Is it just my box or does every Apple TV have this?

Thanks Bob

:apple:TV is still on and running if plugged in, so it's getting stuff from Apple. It's the hard drive being accessed. You have to unplug it for now if you want it to actually turn off. Hopefully, Apple's next update will add the ability to actually shut it down...

Is it get stuff 24 hours a day? Is there possibility to make it stop accessing the hard disk until I tell it to do it (is there any setting that does this)?

Well, not always getting stuff, but it does need to access your hard drive for the fancy screen saver. I just unplug mine, maybe you can try the generic logo screen saver? This may reduce the hard drive access...

No setting to tell it to stop accessing the hard disk, even in "sleep" mode. We have to wait until the next update and maybe Apple will do a "shutdown" setting.

Once that happens, then I can put it in my bedroom...

Hey, mine clicks every second or so for about ten minutes at startup, then the whole system crashes. Any help?
(PS, I know the ultimate answer will be to go to the Apple Store and switch it out, but what's wrong?)

The drive went bad.

Clicking noise from a HDD is usually a sign that its on its way out.

As for the lack of a proper standby/power-off mode, that's been a bugbear of mine since launch. I don't understand why I can't just switch the damn thing off and make it stay off until I want to use it.
